Because there seems to be a lack of appreciation for Darien Lake on the web.
After the 2007 season here in Cleveland, Geauga Lake, my “home” park unexpectedly closed forever. I visited Theme/Amusement Parks regularly over the past years and was not ready for the 2007 season to end. I remembered Darien Lake.
I had lived in upstate New York and used to go to Darien Lake regularly. We made reservations at the hotel and went for the last weekend of the 2007 season.
The park was far better than I had expected. It was always fun but now there was a better “vibe”. Guests and even employees were having fun. All rides were open and running smoothly. The grounds were in perfect shape. This is NOT what I was used to when I visited other parks.
Maybe it's because I mostly went to Cedar Fair parks and got used to their way of running things but Darien Lake was a refreshing change. Relaxing, yet with all of the thrill rides that you could want. Employees that did all of their safety checks but were still talking with guests. Not the same canned lines that ride op's drone at other parks.
We bought season's passes and booked an RV for the opening weekend of 2008.
Many people have asked me about my visit to Darien Lake and that is when I realized that there was not much information, other than the godarienlake.com site, on the web. So, I will try to go into some detail about Darien Lake here. It's history, rides, trip reviews, links to other sites, and information about Western New York that will, hopefully, make your visit as much fun as mine. Darien Lake Theme Park Resort is a unique, fun experience.
